About Andreina

Andreina Davila is a mixed media artist and trained architectural designer whose work explores how everything in life is connected and constantly changing. Starting from her toddler years, Andreina shuttled between the U.S. and Venezuela, living in ten different cities. Now in her thirties, this seemingly nomadic lifestyle and issues of attention deficit disorder became the focus of her artistic interrogations: the impact of constant change to one’s identity, issues of belonging, community, connectedness while at the same time imagining other potentialities. Andreina uses intricate textures, organic lines, and pointillism as recurrent motifs in her art. Together, these elements form layers of fluid mesh, encircled by lines resembling roots and trees, but anchored in ethereal spaces- all suggesting an optimistic open landscape of endless possibilities.

Andreina’s work has been shown at Oakland International Airport, curated by the Oakland Museum of California (2012), Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (2012), SOMARTS, Secession Art & Design, Wonderland SF, and City Art Gallery in San Francisco; City of Berkeley (2014); ProArts, Collector Art Shop, The Compound Gallery, and Slate Contemporary Gallery (2013), in the East Bay; Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (2013), and numerous venues throughout California and Florida. She has been commissioned by Asante Solutions in Milpitas (2015), Kaiser Permanente in Oakland (2014), La Vida Condos in San Francisco (2014) to create original pieces for their public spaces.

Andreina studied Architecture at La Universidad de Los Andes (Venezuela, 2000), before earning a Master of Science in Design at Arizona State University (U.S., 2003).
