“I AM” Series: Statement II

artist-statementAm I what I feel? (Are we what we feel?)

The purpose of this series is to explore the relations between personal emotions or thoughts and our sense of existence, coming from an individual perspective.

I intend to portrait those intense ephemeral moments in life when our feelings are so powerful that “become what we feel”: I feel, therefore I exist.

The intent is not to portray a specific person’s face or life, but the temporary experience she or he is having, hinting to the idea that when we (people) feel something so deeply our perspective on reality narrows, and for a moment, everything else might cease to exist, or is not relevant. By deconstructing these random experiences I hope to de-clutter emotional entanglement creating room for collective empathy.  My hope is that once we identify the plural nature of our reality, we can recognize elements of our shared humanity to help us connect better to one another.

Paradoxically, by isolating universal concepts, such as love, freedom, denial, confusion, lost, or contradiction, I believe we can illustrate the ways in which we are connected.
