Reusing Containers For Art Making

In recent months I have found myself more and more saving plastic containers to mix colors. Some of my favorite containers I recycle on a regular basis are:

  • Apple containers: these provide excellent built-in mini-containers to keep colors separate from each other. This is my inexpensive way of getting a handy acrylic palette mixer! 😉

  • Containers with a tight seal: after mixing colors, one of the common challenges is to keep them from drying before use when working in large pieces. Containers like those that pies come in and small insulated foam boxes (some medicines that need to be kept cold are shipped in these) are great to store pre-mixed acrylics to keep them from evaporating easily.
