I am very happy to announce that one of my favorite botanINK pieces, “Spores” is one of the 170 pieces to be auctioned at the fabulous Art for AIDS event held at City View at Metreon in San Francisco on Friday, September 19, 5:30 to 10:00 pm
Art for AIDS, a juried live and silent auction, is San Francisco’s premier art event benefiting one of the nation’s leading HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ mental health organizations, the UCSF Alliance Health Project.
The main reason, I decide to support an organization by donating artwork is their cause and their mission. That is the case with this event, which is very dear to me. AIDS took the life of a dear friend and so many more, it is inspiring to see how a well organized movement can has improved the lives of people living with a chronic condition. The other reason is a happy one: that auctions are really good opportunities for collectors (if lucky) to get good deals on amazing original art, and I LOVE that! As a tiny collector myself I can appreciate the help, but as an artist I would have a blast if I could just give away my art to every single person that REALLY WANTS it, but I can’t… so, the next best thing are auctions… I feel that I am giving a present twice, splitting it between the nonprofit raising the money and the happy collector that gives my work meaning by collecting it. A win-win win situation. So, there you go. I really hope you can make it to Art for Aids this September. Plus the food, drinks, and venue are spectacular!
“Spores” is one of the 14 paintings still available from the 56 that form BotanINK, now a closed series. For Auction HERE!
